Case Studies One

Greatwall Consultancy has substantial expertise and knowledge of engaging with Chinese media. We can plan and deliver a tailored media and PR campaign and strategy to suit our client’s requirement when they need to enter the Chinese market or to engage with China promotional activities.

In October 2007 Greatwall Consultancy, commissioned by Glasgow Marketing Bureau, invited a group of journalists from Chinese Phoenix Television, one of China’s most prestigious broadcaster and production companies to visit Glasgow and film a 32-minute promotional documentary program of the city. The program was produced and broadcast two weeks later in both English and Chinese and was well received by a Chinese audience in excess of ten million.

“We were delighted with our partnership with Greatwall.  They did a great job of conveying the essence of modern Glasgow to what is a key emerging market for the city in terms of both tourism and investment.  The programme was beautifully shot, well scripted and featured interesting interviews with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau’s Chair, Steven Purcell, and our Vice-Chair, Bailie Liz Cameron.”

Case Studies Two
In 2007, Greatwall Consultancy was proud to work with ICAS, the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Scotland to support its partnership development with the Chinese Institute of Public Certified Accounts (CICPA) in Beijing. We worked on behalf of ICAS to communicate with Beijing on a daily basis and discussed every detail of the business engagement, which culminated in an official agreement being signed in Beijing in January 2008. Before the grand signing ceremony, Greatwall Consultancy helped arrange a critical meeting for Anton Collela, Chief Executive of ICAS and Isobel Sharp then chairwoman of ICAS with Chinese Vice Finance Minister Wang Jun and an exclusive national television coverage.

As one of the world's leading accountancy bodies, ICAS recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA). This is a significant strategic relationship for both organisations. The work of Shuming Kong and Greatwall Consultancy has been absolutely critical to the success of our relationship with the CICPA. Shuming has advised us on our communication and media strategy in China, arranged highly successful and effective press coverage and provided an invaluable and effective link between our two bodies. Without Shuming, I have no doubt that our work in China would have been less successful.

Case Studies Three
In March 2008, Greatwall Consultancy was commissioned by Cartus to deliver a China training program forsenior staff of a Scottish international company. Staff relocated to work in Shanghai required assistance to understand Chinese culture and business practices.

I was searching for a specialist with both cultural and business knowledge of the environment for an Intercultural Training when I came across Shuming’s Website. I immediately got in touch with her and was impressed by her flexibility, availability and overall approach. These qualities obviously carried over to the Intercultural Training itself as Shuming was rated very highly by the participants and by the Trainer, who said that Shuming was a ‘A great presenter who had a wide and up-to-date knowledge of China and a good handle on the British. She demonstrated many of the cultural effects she was talking about’. I would not hesitate to use Shuming again and would highly recommend her to others.
